Paranormal

Stories of paranormal occurrences have been around form all of recorded history.  The human race has always held an underlying belief that there was something more to our world than we could fully perceive.  So why then isn’t the study of these extraordinary experiences more a part of the mainstream awareness?  Even with a number of popular television shows documenting the search for ghosts and haunted places and investigating unexplainable events in nature,  paranormal research is still largely considered pseudo-science. Why?

Long ago science and spiritual awareness were one and the same.  Religion is all there was and it also formed the basis for our governments.  We explained everything through spirituality with some understandings being remarkably insightful, while others were just laughably wrong.  We looked at the world from a much spiritual perspective.  But as time passed what we might call the “science of the tangible” began to advance at a rapid pace.  A renaissance was occurring, enlightening us to the natural world around us.  Some of the events we attributed to the spiritual world were suddenly becoming explainable with physics and chemistry and math.  Spiritual study didn’t fit with this new science.  The processes were different, there was nothing tangible, testable, or predictable.  And most importantly we probably weren’t prepared to understand it.

So spiritual study – the only chance of comprehending the limits of our existence – was left to the church who proceeded to destroy it with parable while scientists went on to devise a rule to validate the flurry of new scientific claims.  They called it the “scientific method.”  From then on every answer that was to be accepted must have been arrived at through use of this method.  And hence the study of the paranormal was left to survive as myth and psychological dysfunction.  The standardization of this approach to research provided the scientific world with a common language for defining discoveries and sharing information.  But have we left something out?  Is this method which so logically and systematically gives validity to science possibly missing another element that we have yet to comprehend?  Quantum physicist are now asking that very question.   So you can expect us here at Gnorml to be following along closely and keeping you up to date on new discoveries.
