Religion

You may have read this on our page about Gnorml’s Basic Assumption, but we would assert that organized religion is a form of government.  As we stated there,

“This is not inherently a bad thing so long as the principles defined by this pseudo government are subject to new interpretations and revisions by the people it governs. Unfortunately most religions based on belief in a divine entity cannot afford to allow this.”

It is important to note however that we differentiate between organized religion and spirituality.   Religion can be defined as the belief in and worship of a god or gods, or a set of beliefs concerning the origin and purpose of the universe.  Spirituality however is often a component of religion, but more specifically deals with immaterial reality and perception of a greater connectedness or transcendent existence.

At Gnorml we support the exploration of our existence from a spiritual sense, but we would propose that the existence of one or more divine entities or gods should receive the same  critical review as any other unproven theory.  This means that many organized religions based on this belief are therefore unfounded and serve as misguided establishments.  Just as we don’t support an absolute belief in the paranormal, UFO’s, or cryptozoological creatures without greater understanding we also don’t support absolute faith in a religious doctrine that seeks to manipulate society and control the will of a people.

Here at Gnorml you can expect to be challenged by new perspectives in an effort to enhance your ability to look inward and consider for yourself what it means to be human, and if there is more to us than our science can grasp.
